The Weigh Ahead service is delivered by a range of qualified health professionals, this includes:
The role of the doctor is to work with the rest of the team to advise on any medical issues that might affect your ability to lose weight or become more physically active. They will also be able to contact your own GP if there are any concerns about your health or any medical issues that need clarifying during your time with Weigh Ahead.
The role of the Dietitian is to work with you to achieve your healthy weight loss goals. They will assess your current diet, lifestyle and eating patterns and talk to you about the reasons that you eat. They will then work with you to plan any changes you would like to make, or maintain those you have already made, to manage your weight.
The role of the Physiotherapist is to assess your current level of activity and any physical or medical problems which might affect your ability to be active. They will work with you to help you achieve your activity goals and provide information about opportunities to be active.
The role of the Psychologists is to assess any psychological issues you may have. This may involve talking about the things that affect you such as your lifestyle, feelings and behaviour. You may be encouraged to practice changes in your behaviour and to think about things in different ways.
The role of the personal guides is to be your weekly point of contact. They will telephone, e-mail or meet with you to celebrate your achievements and encourage you to continue working towards your goals. You can meet with the guides in one to one follow up clinics and drop in sessions, the guides also facilitate group sessions.
